THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 09, 2009: “James Lynn Brumit Sr., 51, of Reno, passed from this life on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Following cremation arrangements by Starrett Funeral Home, the family holds a memorial event at a later date. He was born Sept. 14, 1957, in Merkel, a son of James William and Harriet Joan Shaner Brumit. He served his country in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in 1979. He worked in various careers and was a jack of all trades, but spent considerable time working as a derrick man in the petroleum industry. He married Virginia East in 1988 in Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a step-father, Herb Tanner. Survivors include his wife Virginia; three sons, James Lynn Brumit Jr., Ryan Alexander Brumit and Danny Connelly; seven grandchildren, Christopher Staryak, Dominique Staryak, Amanda Staryak, Shane Staryak, Shawn Staryak, Zachary Rubeccaba, and Justin Rubeccaba; a great-grandson, Noah Staryak; three sisters, Verna Sue Avants, Nancy Jo Pyle and Cynthia Diane Talasek; two step-sons, Paul Staryak and Andrew Staryak; and a step-daughter, Alexsandra Staryak.
