| Notes THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 31, 2008: "Wayne Battey, 95, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at his home in Paris. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at First Baptist Church in Floydada with Pastor Anthony Sizemore officiating. Burial to be made in Floyd County Memorial Park. He was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Floydada. He married Naomi Hodges on Dec. 22, 1934, in Ralls and lived in Floydada until 1968, where he farmed and then moved to Paris. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Nelda June Battey and a grandson, Kevin Glenn Battey. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Naomi; two sons, Alvin Battey and wife J., and Jerry Battey and wife, Pat; four grandchildren, Anita Groshans and husband, Gary, Jerry Battey Jr. and wife, Abby, Kathie Ford and husband, Steve, and Scotty Battey, along with 11 great-grandchildren. He was a very kind, caring, honest person and was so loved by all his family, who will miss him but remember him always.
