THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 07, 2008: “Billy Hue Barber, 71, of Paris, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at his home. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Beverly Olsen officiating. Barber, the son of Oscar Paul and Annie Gann Barber, was born April 29, 1937, in the Rockford community. He served in the U.S. Army and was in the 49th Armored Division mobilization that went to Fort Polk during the Berlin Crisis. He worked a number of years for the Texas Highway Department and then worked as supervisor in the construction of highways for several private companies prior to his retirement. He enjoyed cattle ranching and had a special love for dogs and cats that needed a home and had taken in countless numbers of animals over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Greta Ann McEwin Barber; his twin daughters, Teri A. Barber of Paris and Toni M. Cowley and husband, Monte, of Paris; two sisters, Jane O’Neal and Betty Jo Burks and husband D. R., all of Paris; a sister-in-law, Marie Bush of Paris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
