THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 21, 2008: “Heaven gained a new drummer when Charles Edward Bush, 17, of Powderly, left this world on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, the result of an automobile accident in Robertson County. A Requiem Mass is scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Morgan White as celebrant. The funeral liturgy begins at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the gymnasium of North Lamar High School, under the direction of Starrett Funeral Home. Christian Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery. The family receives friends following the service at the church. He was born Nov. 5, 1990, in Paris, the son of James and Karen Norrell Bush. He was a senior at North Lamar High School, where he was a star drummer in the marching band, concert band, and in any venue where he could perform. Always selected first chair, he was a member of the All-Region Orchestra. His love of percussion dominated his life, but never took precedent over family and friends. From an early age he learned to love baseball, but his choice was to be a drummer. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a cousin, H. L. Brown in 1996. He is survived by his parents, James and Karen Bush, of Powderly; two sisters, Robyn Marie Bush of San Antonio and Jennifer Kaye Bush of Powderly; his paternal grandparents, William and Judy Bush of Sinton; maternal grandparents, Irby and Elaine Norrell of Raymondville; five aunts, Kim Walker and husband, James, of Sinton, Patty Stapp and husband, Rusty, of Pleasanton, Calif., Connie Bush of Victoria, Patty Norrell of Katy and Brenda Kreiling and husband, Kerry, of Katy; two uncles, Donald Norrell and wife, Toni, of Corpus Christi and Robert Norrell and wife, Lisa, of Katy; his loving girlfriend Rachael Garey, of College Station; numerous cousins, including very special ones Andrew Swanberg and Joseph Norrell; and very special friends, Josh Ausburn, Darian Smith and Cliff West. Named to serve as pallbearers are Darian Smith, Cliff West, Matt Green, Casey Moore, Forest Moody, Keldon Beal, Matt Kennedy and Logan Parson. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Pickering, and the Senior Members of the North Lamar Panther football team, and the drum line of the North Lamar High School Band. THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 19, 2008 By Bill Hankins: "Car accidents take the life of two - A 17-year-old North Lamar High School student was killed in a one-car accident in Robertson County early Saturday. Charles Bush, a senior at North Lamar, was pronounced dead at the scene on U.S. 79 near the town of Franklin. Robertson County Sheriff’s Department investigator said Bush was alone in the vehicle. The car was traveling south on U.S. 79, went into the northbound ditch alongside the road, struck a tree and rolled over, the investigator said. The one-car accident occurred at 8:30 a.m. Bush’s death was the second fatality of a Paris student in the past three days. Paris High School student Hannah Weiberg was killed late Wednesday in a one-car accident in Franklin County. Her car hit a concrete bridge abutment.”
