THE PARIS NEWS, Sept. 24, 2007: “Elwood C. Bogard, 87, of Pattonville, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007; Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.”
THE PARIS NEWS, Sept. 25, 2007: “E. C. ‘Clayton’ Bogard, 87, of Paris died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at Paris Healthcare Center. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home conducts graveside services 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Floydada, a son of Claude and Nellie Graham Bogard. He married Margie Ann Lindsey in Lubbock on May 18, 1946. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a long time farmer/rancher and also worked at Phillips Lighting over 21 years. His grandchildren were his life. He enjoyed his work, his love for animals, watching his hummingbirds and loved watching westerns on TV. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Don ‘Sunny Man’ Bogard; a sister, Gwendolyn Shore and two brothers, J. T. Bogard and Lenoard Bogard. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margie Ann Bogard; four daughters and their spouses, Nicki Brooks and David, Margaret Simpson and Johnny, Donna Womack and Danny, Melissia Humphrey and Daryle; grandchildren, Robert Simpson, Lessia Stone and husband, Steve, Michelle Wear, Clayton Womack, Brandi Allred and husband, Derek, Chevy Humphrey and Vanessa Humphrey; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Hammond, numerous nieces and nephews. On the same stone with Margie Ann Bogard. Also has a military marker inscribed, “PFC US Army - World War II - Bronze Star Medal - Purple Heart.”
