THE PARIS NEWS, June 10, 2008: "IRVING, The Rev. Clyde T. Boyd, 90, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008, in Irving, after a brief illness. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at First Baptist Church of Irving. Interment was to follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were conducted under the direction of Chapel of Roses Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Yantis, to Jacob P. and Lula Boyd. He married Mary Helen Sickles on Aug. 3, 1939. He was a 1960 graduate of Southwestern Theological Seminary. He fulfilled his life's calling of serving the Lord. He was pastor of Bowles Baptist Church in Marietta, Okla., First Baptist Church of Melissa, Springlake Baptist Church of Paris, and Westwood Park Baptist Church of Irving. He served as a volunteer at Baptist Benevolence Ministries in Irving and presided over hundreds of weddings and funerals after his retirement. He was a member of Irving Masonic Lodge No. 1218 A.F. & A.M. for more than 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen; sons and daughters-in-laws, Jerry and Betty Boyd, Steve and Renita Boyd; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Francis Simmons; and two brothers, Terrell Boyd and Merrell Boyd."
