THE PARIS NEWS, June 08, 2007: "Christina Dawn Boyd, 25, of the Woodland community, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at her home following a lengthy battle with brain cancer. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Ellis and the Rev. Dennis Cates officiating. Burial follows in the Fairview Cemetery in Hagansport. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. She was born Nov. 20, 1981, in Blacksburg, Va., to Scott Sheldon and Sherri Dawn Burns Boyd. She graduated from Detroit High School and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Brownfield. The family would like to thank all of the area churches for praying for Christina during her lengthy illness. Also, a special thank you to B. J. McCoy and the entire sheriff's department of Lamar County for all of their care and support. She was preceded in death by two cousins, Devonie and Christian Young. She is survived by her mother, Sherri Haltom and husband, Deryl, of the Woodland Community; her father, Scott Boyd of Brownfield; two brothers, Ryan Boyd of Crosbyton and Caleb Haltom of Woodland; one sister, Tiffanie Austermann of Paris; her grandparents, Don and Melba Burns of Bogata and Ace and Billie Boyd of Brownfield; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be Cedric Williams, Tony Nunley, Cedric Patt, Donnie Burns, Josh Jones, Jason Jones and Caleb Haltom.
