THE PARIS NEWS, June 03, 2007: "Wilbur Russel Barr, 86, of Blossom, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, in Blossom. A time of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif. The family receives friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Sharon, Okla., to Charles Kora and Mary Elizabeth Langdon Barr. He married Nora Jane Simpson on Aug. 31, 1947, in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death in August of 1962. He was a career Navy service man for 23 years, serving during World War II and the Korean War and attaining the rank of chief machinist mate. He was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Barr; four brothers, Harold, Ross, Earl, and Dale Barr; and two sisters, Opal Hansen and Mildred Graves. He is survived by three children, Raymond Barr and wife, Jerrie, of Blossom, Jim Barr and wife, Pam, of Allen, and Beth Matlock and Thad Grace of Blossom; five grandchildren, Jennifer Barr of Paris, Kevin and Brian Barr of Allen, Brandon Matlock of Paris, and Stacey Sikes and husband, Clint, of Paris; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Burton Barr of Valliant, Okla.; and two sisters, Faye Miller of Weed, Calif., and Ruth Wyatt of Medford, Ore.
