THE PARIS NEWS, May 23, 2008: "Albert Ross Brooks Jr., 73, of Paris passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008, at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Patrick Cannon officiating. He was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Lamar County, a son of Albert R. and Bertha Brooks. He married Shirley Ann Fuqua Hargis, Jan. 27, 1982, in Paris. He served his country in the Army. He enjoyed watching the TV evangelists, reading anything that was Biblical, always listened to the Cowboy Church services on the radio on Sunday mornings, politics, and collecting ink pens from anyone who would give him one. He was employed at Campbell Soup Co. and he attended Westwood Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Shirley Ann Brooks; a son, David R. Brooks; brother, Hollis Brooks, and wife, Janice, of Texarkana; three step-children, David Hargis, and wife Julia, Denishia Gentry, and husband, Steve, both of Paris, and Debra Hudgins, and husband, Steve, of Broken Bow.
