THE PARIS NEWS, May 15, 2007: "MOUNT PLEASANT, Elizabeth Robertson Boatner, 90, longtime Mount Pleasant resident and business woman died Monday, May 14, 2007, in Mount Pleasant. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clint Davis officiating. Burial follows in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born May 28, 1916, in Murchison, the daughter of Walter and Lucy Robertson. She moved to Mount Pleasant from Marshall in 1947 with her husband, Cortez and family to open a retail furniture store, Home Furniture Company, in the 400 block of North Jefferson Ave. In 1951, they moved the business to 104 East First Street, where they gradually acquired other buildings on the block and renamed the business Boatner's Home Furniture. She was an active member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cortez and her brother, Earl Robertson. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Julann Boatner of Paris and Jerry and Suzy Boatner of Mount Pleasant; grandsons and their spouses, Brett and Alisa Boatner of Mount Pleasant and Brad and DeeAnn Boatner of Allen; granddaughter, Amy Boatner of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Mia, Barrett and Denton Boatner and her sister, Barbara Key of Dallas. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 867, Mount Pleasant, TX. 75456 or a charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Kerry Wootten, Bill Ratliff, Robert Nance, Jerry Stacks, Joe Robertson and Parker Key."
