THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 17, 2008: "CLARKSVILLE, Virginia Joyce Smith Butler, 71, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, in Regency Nursing Center. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at New Shamrock Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Champ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born March 24, 1936, in Red River County to Shelby Lee and Oppie Gladys Brady Smith. She was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Butler; a brother, Virgil (Buddy) Smith; a nephew, Johnny Stringer; and a granddaughter, Sara Butler. Survivors include a son, Charles Butler, and wife, Faunda, of Kamiah, Idaho; a daughter, Lee Ann Butler, of Paris; grandchildren Cody St. Clair, John Butler, and Caleb Butler; sister, Gail Laverne Watson, of Bagwell; nephew Roy Stringer and wife, Deana; three great-nephews, Joshua Davison, Jacob Davison, and Colt Stringer.
