THE PARIS NEWS, Apr. 10, 2007: “Hattie Lee Blankenship, 88, of Paris, died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set to be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in Starret-Rose Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Russell and the Rev. Diana Russell officiating. Interment follows in Meadowbrook Gardens. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Edna, a daughter of John Roy Sr. and Eva Williams Coston. She graduated High School in Uvalde, then attended the University of Texas. She was a member of Covenant Christian Church, she owned and managed rental properties in the Paris area for many years, she loved classical music, gardening and painting, but her greatest loves were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her first husband was Dr. William Jackson Walker. He preceded her in death. She married R. D. Blankenship in 1957. He preceded her in death in 1995. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Chris Turner in 1978 and Mark Sneed Sr., in 2003; two brothers, John Roy Coston and Hugh Coston; and a sister, Adelle Poe. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jones and husband, Charles, of Paris and Billie Turner and husband, Tom, of San Antonio; five grandchildren, T. J. Turner, Gary Turner, and Jon Turner, all of San Antonio, Anthony Sneed, of Fort Worth, James Sneed of San Marcos; nine great-grandchildren, Kellie Turner, Tommi Lee Turner, Sydney Turner, all of San Antonio, Mya Sneed, of Fort Worth, Hayley Sneed, Emaly Sneed, Malorie Sneed and Mark Sneed Jr., all of Paris; her sister-in-law, Olga Coston of Castorville; and her close friend Byron Coffelt of Paris. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Anthony Sneed, James Sneed, Lonnie Michael, Josh Jones and James Price. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Covenant Christian Church, P.O. Box 1803, Paris, Texas 75461. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.sterrettrose.com.” NOTE: R. D. Blankenship is buried in Old Klondike Cemetery, Delta County, Texas.
