THE PARIS NEWS, Apr. 04, 2007: "BOGATA, Shirley Babb, 64, of Bogata died Monday, April 2, 2007. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Lake Chapel House of Prayer with the Rev. Gerald Hood and Jared Myrick officiating. Burial follows in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Homes. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born Feb. 4, 1943, in McCrury. Her parents were Houston and Hontas Hill Pettit. On March 10, 1961, she married Glen Babb in Paris. She was a former teacher for the Bogata Christian Academy and Lake Chapel Christian School. She was a member of Lake Chapel House of Prayer. Her survivors are her husband, Glen Babb of Bogata; two daughters, Michelle Babb of Bogata and Rhonda Myrick of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Jarae Myrick of Mount Vernon and Jared Myrick and wife, Vickie, of Des Moines, Iowa; one great-grandchild, Reagenn Myrick of Des Moines, Iowa; an uncle, Austin Pettit of Bogata; five cousins, Bobby Clouse and wife, Frances, of McCrury, Rodney Pettit and wife, Linda, of Bogata and Linda Pettit of Bogata, Fred Kee of Powderly and Teneka Duke of Powderly; three sisters-in-law, Doris Cannon and husband, Rob, of Sulphur Bluff, Peggy Cannon and husband, Charles, of Mount Vernon and Sandra Burns of Mount Vernon; six nieces and nephews."
