THE PARIS NEWS, Apr. 04, 2008: “NELSON, BRITISH COLOMBIA, Canada, Winifred ‘Wini’ Scott Bauer, departed her earthly body Monday, March 24, 2008, in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada where she had lived for several years. She was born Sept. 16, 1959, in Paris, to Benjamin Baldwin Bauer and Ruby Langford Bauer. She graduated from Paris High School in 1977 and from the University of Texas in Austin. She loved music and shared her talent on the flute with others as a member of the Paris High School band, the University of Texas Symphonic band, the Santa Fe Municipal band and the Paris Municipal band. She also loved adventure and had the opportunity to visit such places as Sweden, Bali and Costa Rica. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby and brother Joe. She is survived by two sons, Ian Wallen and Kai Wallen of Nelson, B.C.; her father, Benjamin Bauer of Paris; her sister, Anna Townsley, and brother-in-law, Ross Townsley, of Garland; her brother, James Bauer, and his wife, Virginia, of Polk City, Fla.; her nieces, Jessica Galleshaw and Sarah Bauer of Dallas and her nephew, Ben Bauer also of Dallas. If desired, in lieu of flowers a request is made to send memorials in her name to the West Kootenay Living Well Society, a group which offers support to people facing serious illness in British Columbia; or the Yasodhara Ashram, Box 9, Kootenay Bay, B.C. A family member provided the information that Wini was cremated and ashes were interred with her father, Benjamin "Bennie" Bauer, when he died in 2009.
