THE PARIS NEWS, Mar. 05, 2007: "CLARKSVILLE, Dewey Thomas, 71, of Detroit died Saturday, March 3, 2007, in Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Lone Star Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev.'s Don Shovan, Don Benton and Dink Benton officiating. Burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Rose Mound Cemetery in Commerce under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born March 22, 1935, in Commerce, the son of Henry Thomas and Emily Plunkett Vinson. He was a member of the Lone Star Congregational Methodist Church. His biggest hobby was his grandkids. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Thomas Verner. Survivors include his wife, Marline Gilmer Thomas, who he married on July 11, 1953, in Commerce; two daughters, Sarena Owens and husband, David, of Yantis, Suzann Shovan and husband, Don, of Clarksville; sister, Kathryn Verner and husband, Harold, of Detroit; grandchildren, Jill Kinsley and husband, Daniel, of Tyler, Cory Owens of Tyler and Kyle Shovan of Clarksville; nieces and nephews, Pam, Donnie, Jennifer and Brian Hays of Detroit. Pallbearers will be Cory Owens, Kyle Shovan, Daniel Kinsley, Donnie Hays, Brian Hays and Scotty Coleman. If desired, memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas at 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX. 75701."
