THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 09, 2006: "George D. 'Bill' Brock, 91, of Detroit, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Heritage Care Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Kanawha Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. He was born Aug. 31, 1915, in the Kanawha community of Red River County, the son of George and Battle Boulware Brock. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and upon returning from the war became a farmer until his retirement. He was a faithful member of the Leesville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gladys, Oma, Geneva and Lou; and by one brother, Howard. Survivors include a niece, Nancy Daughtrey and husband, Elvis of Paris, and special neighbors, Joe and Pat Smith of Detroit. If desired, the family requests that memorials be made to Kanawha Cemetery Association, c/o Richard Garrison, 12816 FM 909, Bogata, Texas 75417 or Leesville Baptist Church, 11474 FM 195, Bagwell, Texas 75412.
