| Notes THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 24, 2006: "BOGATA, Grady Doyle Backus Sr., 77, of Bagwell died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Regency Nursing Home in Clarksville. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Bogata Missionary Baptist Church. Burial follows in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Blue Ridge, the son of Thomas Runnells and Florence Dalton Backus. He married Karla Shepherd September 1979, in Lovington, N.M. He was a retired rancher and a United States Army Air Corp Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Karla of Bagwell; two sons, Grady Doyle Backus Jr. of Hobbs, N.M. and Walter Backus of Tatum, N.M.; his daughters, Debra Backus of Lovington, N.M., Jackie Sheffield of Greenville, Cheyenne Johnson of South Carolina, Starr Backus of Paris, Phoenix Travillion of Bogata; his step-daughters, Amber Ashenbeck of Little Rock and Crystal Trujillo of Del Rio; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a brother, Eddie Backus of Arthur City." |
