THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 30, 2008: “John Calvin Butler, 79, of Paris died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Evergreen Cemetery with Bro. Nolan Butler officiating. The family receives friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Magnolia, Ark., to Robert L. and Pearl Wilkerson Butler. He was a retired oil field worker. He married Lorene McFadden on May 22, 1992, in Paris. He was a member of College Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Dale McFadden; three brothers, Bonion, Thomas, and Dale Butler; and one sister, Clement Butler. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Butler; six children, John C. Butler, Jr. and wife, Kay, David Butler, Raymond Butler, Samuel Wayne Butler, Elfieria Joyce, and Doretha Burnett; two step-children, Jerry McFadden and wife, Diane, and Rita Giles and husband, Michael; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Curtis Butler and wife, Tonya, and O’Dell Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be James Prater, Warren Skeen, Mark Arnold, Paul Payne, Michael Fry, Rick Zant, Robert Ballard and Charles Hodgkiss.
