THE PARIS NEWS, September 10, 1976: Ruben Bass of 1119 - 3rd NE died Tuesday at his home after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at St. Marks's United Methodist Church at Powderly with the Rev. Roscoe Nunnely officiating. Burial will be in the Reed's Chapel Cemetery at Powderly under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home. Mr. Bass was born October 23, 1904, in Lamar County, a son of Walter and Cora (Dangerfield) Bass. He was a long time employe[e] of the Holiday Inn. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and of the Foster White Lodge 129 F&AM of Arthur City. He is survived by his wife, Christina Bass, of the home; three sons, Robert Bass of Houston, Charles Ray Bass of San Francisco, Calif. and Clifford Earl Allen a foster son of the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Webb of Arthur City and Mrs. Betty Johnson of Dallas; six brothers Bennie Bass of Powderly, Rural Bass of Washington, D.C., Buford Bass of Paris, Walter Bass Jr. of Stockton, Calif., York Bass of Lorenzo and Jack Bass of Wichita Falls; four sister, Mrs. Lizzie Brown and Miss Virginia Bass, both of Paris, Mrs. Rozella Ellis of Arthur City and Mrs. Channie Mae Ellis of Fulbright; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Information from Thelma Dangerfield, msty@att.net, 12 Apr 2013:  Parents were Walter & Cora Dangerfield Bass Sr. He married Christine Reed.  He had two sons, Charles & Robert Lee Bass. Prior to marriage he had two daughters, Betty Jo & Dorothy Mae. He was retired from Holiday Inn.
