THE PARIS NEWS, July 24, 2011, page 5A: “Wayne C. Tolbert, 80, of Paris, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Kilmer officiating. Burial, with military rites, are to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family are to receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The son of Morris C. and Robbie H. Carder Tolbert, he was born July 26, 1930, in Linden. He married Bobby Lucas on Aug. 28, 1954, in Paris, building 50 years of family and memories before her death on June 2, 2005. He retired from the U. S. Army as a captain following a career that spanned more than 35 years, and in 1979 he began working in outside sales of specialty advertising and was still working at the time of his death. He was a member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; a son-in-law, Hershell Barnes, and a brother, Keith Tolbert. Survivors include his wife, Myra Sutherland Tolbert; two daughters, Mitzi Tolbert Barnes, of Dallas, and Marla Tolbert Blurton and husband, Billy, of Cedar Hill; stepsons, Scott Bufkin and Dale Bufkin, both of Garland; grandchildren, Ashley Henriksen and husband, Brian, Chelsea Lazano and husband, Joe, Kaylea McDole and husband, Lance, and D.J. Bufkin; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Byron Tolbert and wife, Mari, of Rising Star; a sister, Doretha Gray and husband, Edward, of Rowlett; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dogs, Snickers and Little Boy; along with a plethora of friends. Casket bearers will be Rickey Lucas, David Floyd, Robert Henson, Cleve Fendley, Neal Collard, Brian Henriksen, Jewel 'Pee Wee' Evers and Phillip Tolbert.” Transcribed by Mary Tallant.
