THE PARIS NEWS, Mar. 07, 2006: "Clara Beatrice Clarkson Bates, 91, of the Faught community died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral home with the Rev. Henry Blackmon and the Rev. Larry Bridges officiating. Burial follows in Providence Cemetery. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at the home of Betty Low at other times. She was born Dec. 10, 1914, in the Faught community, a daughter of John Wesley and Beulah Cagle Clarkson. She married W. A. 'Bill' Bates on June 3, 1932, in Faught. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bates; grandson, Tommy Low; a brother, Clyde Clarkson; and sisters, Sarah Wilson and Inez McHam. She is survived by four children, Alvis Bates and wife, Billie Ruth, of Blossom, Wanda Hart and husband, James, of Paris, Billie Jennings and husband, Jack, of Plano, Betty Low and husband, Thomas, of East Post Oak; seven grandchildren, Patti Bates, Mark Bates, Stanley Hart, Cindy Gurley, Becky Michael, Terri Williams and Jennifer Manley; 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Randle Clarkson and John Clarkson; two sisters, Gladys Varner and Bernice Goff; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers are Mark Bates, Stanley Hart, Jerald Williams, Timmy Michael, Mark Gurley and Aaron Manley. Honorary pallbearer is Aaron Bates, who is currently serving in Iraq.
