THE PARIS NEWS, Jul. 14, 2005: "Rosie Bass, 97, of Paris died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Heritage Care Center. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, at New Birth Baptist Church with the Rev. S. F. Evans officiating. Interment follows in Reeds Chapel Cemetery in Powderly under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home. She was born May 4, 1908, in Lamar County, the daughter of the late Colonel and Susie Young Zachary. She attended schools in Lamar County and was a member of New Birth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Earl Bass of Paris; daughters, Evelyn Giddens of Powderly, and Corine Wade and Mary Burton of Paris; one brother, Ebb Young of Dallas; one sister, Alma Spence of Marietta; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren."
