THE PARIS NEWS, May 27, 2005: 'BOGATA, Pearlene Buchanan, 88, of Bogata died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, in Bogata Church of God Church with Kevin Cannon and Shaun Tulley officiating. Burial follows in Midway Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Titus County, the daughter of John Gary Kelley and Josie Lula Staton Kelley. She married George Gurdy Buchanan on July 17, 1932, in Hugo, Okla. She and her husband lived in the Shadowland community near Deport and moved to Lake Dallas in 1959, moving back to Bogata three years ago. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She worked for over 20 years in the dietary department of Denton State School. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; five brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, John Thomas 'Tom' Buchanan and wife, Helen, of Bogata and George Buchanan of Lake Dallas; two daughters, Shirley Jones of Carrollton and Syvilla Elliott and husband, Virgil, of Tyler; a sister, Marie Crafts of Johntown; a brother, M. L. Brown of Bogata; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and two very special friends, Treavor and Rhonda Owen of Denton.'
