THE PARIS NEWS, May 17, 2005: "Helmuth Carl Burger, 87, of Paris passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Grace Lutheran Church with pastor Bruce Miller officiating. Military rites will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family receives friends from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. He was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Dwight, Ill., the son of Martin and Lucy Hahn Burger. He married Ivora Evans on Oct. 15, 1945, in Dwight. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II. For 30 years he managed the DeKalb Poultry Farm north of Paris. Upon his retirement he and his wife, joined ‘Laborers For Christ,’ an all state project for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, in which he was foreman for several projects. They served nine years building churches and having fellowship with other Christians. Survivors include his wife, Ivora; three children, Sandra Waggoner of Paris, Darrel Burger of San Antonio and Sheree Burgess of North Richland Hills; six grandchildren, Carl Waggoner, Christina Waggoner, Amanda Burger, Justin Burger, Toby Burgess and Ryne Burgess, along with four great-grandchildren, Steven Waggoner, Shawn Waggoner, Kevin Waggoner and Kaitlyne Waggoner. Casket bearers will be Carl Waggoner, Toby Burgess, Ryne Burgess, Jack Burgess, Darrel Burger and Justin Burger."
On the same stone with Ivora M. Burger. Also has a military marker inscribed, "TEC 4 US Army World War II."
