THE PARIS NEWS, May 15, 2005: "Jerry D. Black, of Jonesboro, Ark., passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark. Family and friends are set to gather in celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Patrick Cannon officiating. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. A viewing is set from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. He was a veteran, 32nd Degree Master Mason and a deacon at First Christian Church of Jonesboro. He was retired at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Dean Montgomery Black; sister, Dorothy Rogers; and a brother, William Wayne Black. He is survived by his wife, Robbie Black of Jonesboro; father and step-mother, Marlin L. and Eva Lee Black of Paris; son, Thomas Daniel Black of Dallas; daughters, Charlotte Ann Black of Dallas, Debbie Black of Rowlett, and Donna Allen of Kerthling, Ill.; five grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; step-brother, Bob Howell; step-sister, Dorothy Landrum; and many other relatives and friends. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of choice."
Military marker inscribed, "SP4 US Army."
