LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, March 1979: 'Mrs. Carl Billups, 73, of Lubbock, died Monday, March 19, 1979, in a Dalhart hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 21, with burial at Westhaven Memorial Park in Lubbock. Elsie Rodgers Billups was born in Lamar County on August 22, 1905, daughter of Joe M. and Othela Arnold Rodgers. She attended Post Oak schools and married Carl Billups, who died July 21, 1974. She retired about eight years ago after serving 20 years as supervisor of the school cafeterias in Detroit and Lubbock. Survivors include one son, Joe William Billups of Dalhart; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Maude Gibson and Mrs. T. L. (Ocie) Floyd, both of Paris, Mrs. Audry Scott of Bogata, and Mrs. Grady (Beatrice) Kennemer of Biardstown; and two brothers, E. A. Rodgers and Leo Rodgers, both of Paris.'
