Information from Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home: Sarah Jo Burgess. May 1, 1936 - March 9, 2025 Sarah Jo Burgess, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on May 1, 1936, in Honey Grove, Texas, and lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to her family, community, and faith. Sarah was an active member of her community, participating in home demonstration clubs and various other groups. Her passion for service extended to her church, where she was deeply involved over the years, teaching Sunday School and mentoring young women. A lover of art and nature, Sarah had a special gift for cultivating both her garden and the hearts of her grandchildren. She cherished visits with friends and family and was always accompanied by one of her beloved Chihuahuas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Burgess; son, Cody Burgess; mother, Nora Gentry; father, Jess Gentry; and her siblings. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Litha Anderson, and son-in-law, Ken Anderson; her grandchildren, Candida Pasley (Ian), Heather Buegeler-Romans (Zach), Crystal Burgess, Mathew Anderson, Patrick Anderson, Kody Tyner, and Amanda Burgess; as well as her great-grandchildren, Nathanial, Sarah, Kimberley, Rachel, Destiny, Bo, Bailey, and Ryan, and great-great-grandchildren, Levi and Ivy. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home, 730 Clarksville St., Paris, TX 75460. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Happy Hill Farm.
