THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 22, 2007:  "Marilyn Marie Burleaud, 75, of Sumner passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Baylor Medical Center in Garland.  Graveside services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Maxey with Father Morgan White officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.  A rosary has been scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  She was born in Oconto Falls, Wis., to August Francois and Ellen Gillis Francois.  She was raised on a dairy farm and after graduating from college her very first teaching job was in a little one room school house.  She married Lucien Burleaud on July 12, 1952.  She lived in many parts of the United States having followed her husband and his career before moving to Sumner, where they raised Limousine Cattle.  She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and taught school at Rivercrest High School for 28 years.  She taught school for a total of 56 years.  She received the Mirabeau Lamar Teacher of the Year Award in 2006.  She was a great mentor and friend to many people down through her teaching career.  She was a member of the Red River Valley Honkers Club, the Retired Teachers Association and was actively involved in politics.  Her hobbies included helping her husband restore Model A's and antique tractors, reading, gardening and she loved all kinds of animals.  The most important thing in her life was loving and spending time with her one and only granddaughter, Catherine Marie.  She was preceded in death by her father, August Francis, and a son, Terry Lee Burleaud.  She is survived by her husband, Lucien Burleaud; her children, Denise Isom and husband, Tommy, Lucian Burleaud and wife, Martha; grandchild, Catherine Marie Burleaud; mother, Ellen Francis; sisters, Janet Beardsley and husband, Don, Susie Jarmuskiewiez and husband, Clarence; brothers, Melvin Francis and wife, Dorothy, Ronald Francis and wife, Carol, Jim Francis and wife, Sue, Roger Francis and wife, Janet and many other numerous family and friends.  Online condolences may be sent to the Burleaud family at www.fry-gibbs.com."
