Notes

THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 15, 2010: “Pat Bounds, 92, of Powderly died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Long Cemetery with Rev. John Griswood officiating. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home and will be at the Pat Bounds home at other times. He was born Dec. 7, 1917, to William and Annie Cullender Bounds. After moving at an early age to Rio Hondo in the Rio Grande Valley, he spent approximately 40 years farming cotton and raising vegetables. He was an active member of the Rio Hondo Community Church and served on the Rio Hondo School Board. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Jacksonville, Fla., and delighted in telling stories about his duties as a butcher and cook. After returning to Powderly in 1965, he enjoyed ranching and gardening and worked at Campbell Soup. Later, he and his wife, Lucille, operated Bounds Meat Processing for approximately 15 years. He was a member of Powderly Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a most generous individual — one who was always sharing and helping anyone less fortunate or on hard times. He was preceded in death in 2004 by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Watson Bounds. Also preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Robert; brothers, Oscar, Roscoe and Lawrence Bounds; and sister, Fannie Edwards. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Terry of San Antonio and Phyllis Macon and husband, Carrol, of Rockwall; one son, Tracy Bounds and wife, Kathy, of Powderly; one granddaughter, Laurie Bounds England and husband, Shane; one great-grandson Tristan Ty England of Powderly who was the apple of his PaPa’s eye; one nephew, Pat Edwards and wife, Myrtle, and their children, Carl, Keith and Patricia, all of Arkansas; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Coates and Allene Hopwood of Rio Hondo, and Mary Molitor and husband, Elmer, of Illinois; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. His family would like to express special thanks to the nurses of Millennium Home Health, especially Mary Lou and Debbie, and thanks to the loving, caring staff of the Clyde Cosper Veterans Nursing Home in Bonham and to hospice for the tender love and care given Pat. Another special thanks goes to LaDonna Davis of LaDonna Davis Ministries for singing a song at his graveside services.
