THE PARIS NEWS, Sept. 17, 2009: “Elizabeth G. Bolyard, 84, of Powderly passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Paris Skilled Nursing. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, in Gospel Lighthouse in Powderly with Rev. Chris Kelley and Rev. James Sparks officiating. Burial is to be in the Long Cemetery. Family receives friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. She was born May 27, 1925, in Lamar County, a daughter of Leonard L. and Bessie Matthews Jordan. She married Ralph Bolyard in 1946, making 58 years of memories. He preceded her in death May 17, 2004. She graduated from Powderly High School and was a longtime member of Gospel Lighthouse at Powderly. She was a homemaker and a stay at home mom and loved home and family. She loved going to church and living for Jesus our Savior. She taught Sunday school classes in the churches she attended and loved teaching the junior class. She loved to write poems and songs and many were recorded and published. She loved going to convalescent homes in Paris to encourage and be encouraged by people in songs and words. She had good friends to help. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy Lee Smith, Oct. 18, 2008; her parents; and a brother, Clifford Jordan, Aug. 31, 2003. Surviving her are children, Faybress Smith and husband, C. L., of Powderly, Kenneth Bolyard and wife, Ann, of Powderly, Myra Blount and husband, Ronnie, of Novice, Rebekah Bourassa and husband, Joe, of Joplin, Mo., Glenn Bolyard and wife, Debi, of Powderly and Tony Bolyard and wife, Lisa, of Powderly; six grandsons; four granddaughters; along with several great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Henry Jordan of Forest Chapel; sisters, Katherine Weaver of Paris and Loy Dell Allison of Powderly. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Gospel Lighthouse. ‘Her advice was to remember that Jesus loves you — live for him.’ Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.fry-gibbs.com.”
