THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 04, 2006: "CLARKSVILLE, Madge Payne Beville, 98, died Monday, Jan, 2, 2006, at her home. Services are scheduled for 2 p..m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at First Christian Church in Clarksville. Interment follows in Forrest Hill Cemetery in Petty under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born March 10, 1907, in Amherst, the daughter of Dr. G. W. and Addie Hastings Payne. She attended school at Glory, Roxton and Paris, finishing in 1924. She married J. C. Beville in 1924 and was a housewife for several years. In 1937 she moved with her family to Clarksville and began working with her brother, Dr. R. W. Payne. After 25 years with Dr. Payne, she worked for a time with Dr. C. B. Reed before attending nursing school and obtaining an L.V.N. She was instrumental in implementing the first 'Head Start' Program in Red River County, in the Detroit School System. At the age of 75, she retired to her home with J. C. to enjoy her family and friends and her beloved flowers. She taught piano and played piano and organ for various churches throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 80 years, J. C. Beville; a sister, Leona Payne Casstevens; three brothers, Hubert Payne, Dr. R. W. Payne and Dr. George Payne. She is survived by two daughters, Madgie Stewart of Longview, Dr. Julia Van Burkleo and husband, Hoyel, of Longview; a son, Charles Beville and wife, Nelda, of Blossom; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews, along with several great-nieces and nephews."
