THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 14, 2004: 'Charlie W. 'Short-Barrel' Tolleson, 88, of Fort Worth, formerly of Paris, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Kizer officiating. A committal service follows at Lake Creek Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born in Murfreesboro, Ark., on Mar. 26, 1916, a son of Jacob and Nora Cummings Tolleson. He married Clara Cantrell in Commerce on Feb. 15, 1947. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater. He later retired from the Texas Highway Department in Paris in March 1978, where he had worked as a Maintenance Technician III, having served 25 years throughout Northeast Texas. Prior to his work with the state, he was a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved his country, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, in 1991; a sister; and four brothers. He is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Sweet and husband, Jack, of Fort Worth, and Charlotte Edmiston and husband, Terry, of Azle; sons Marshall Tolleson of Fort Worth, Allan Tolleson and wife, Pamela, of Decatur, and Paul Tolleson and wife, Shelly, of Burleson; sisters, June Preston of Lake Creek and Maudie Huffman of Mineola; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.'
