THE PARIS NEWS, July 16, 2004: 'ARLINGTON, Charles Walter Beckham, 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at an Arlington nursing facility. A memorial service was held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Road Chapel, 4216 S. Bowen Road in Arlington. Interment with military honors followed at 11 a.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. He was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Paris to Louisa and James Beckham. He graduated from Paris High School in 1937 and from Texas A&M University in 1947 with a bachelor's degree in architectural and structural engineering. He served his country as a major in the U.S. Army during World War II and was recalled during the Korean War as a reserve. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal during World War II. He was a Fort Worth resident for almost 50 years. He retired from Bell Helicopter in 1982. He was a registered professional engineer in Texas and New Mexico and belonged to many professional organizations including American Institute of Plant Engineers, American Concrete Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers, and American Military Engineers. His most notable local structure was the upper deck of the Texas Christian University football stadium in Fort Worth. He was proud of his military service and loved being a Texas Aggie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa May Beckham, in January 2001. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Vadner and husband, Gary, of Dalworthington Gardens; son, Barry Beckham and wife Tina, of Crowley; brother, James Beckham of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Emily David, Jennifer and Katelyn; and a niece, Tracy.'
