THE PARIS NEWS, Sept. 20, 2004: 'MINEOLA, Harold Baty, 70, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Quitman. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at First Baptist Church, Mineola with the Rev. Mark Neeley and the Rev. Bob Dean officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Paris, to Burton and Ella Baty. He was retired from the Garland Police Department after 30 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mineola. He was also a deacon of the church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Buryl and Earl Baty. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Baty of Quitman; one son Steve Baty and wife, Carolyn, of Dixon, Mo.; one daughter, Sheryl Burt and husband, Ken, of Garland; one brother, Al Baty and wife, Delores, of Fort Worth; one sister, June Alexander and husband, Jimmy, of Arlington; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jimmy George, Jerry Sadler, Jess Youngblood, Bill Farley, Jim Barnett, Bob Morehead and Jesse Carlock. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of the First Baptist Church and the J. C. Norris Sunday school class. If desired, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mineola Building Fund.'
