THE PARIS NEWS, Mar. 03, 2004: 'Dennis Dudley Batch, 79, of the Birthright community in Hopkins County, formerly of Dallas, died Monday, March 1, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Short officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Cunningham. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. He was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Cunningham, a son of F. M. and Iva Edna Lawhorn Batch. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Corregidor and afterward worked most of his life as a truck driver. A former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Elks Lodge, he was involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Batch Bazhaw Pierson. He is survived by a daughter, Anita Stonecypher of Dallas; his former wife, Billie Batch of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews, including Donnie Bazhaw of Arlington; special friends, Claudia and Jeanette; his faithful pets and companions, Pepper and Pug, his feline grandchildren, Mr. Kitty and Q. T. and many loving friends.
