THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 20, 2003: 'Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Peter John Broadway, 61, retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army, died of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, in Imperial Point Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. He was born in Detroit to Alvis and Naomi Broadway. He attended Detroit High School where he was a member of the basketball team. After graduation, he attended East Texas State University where he received a degree in Special Education in 1963. Later, he earned an MBA from Frostburg State College. He taught Special Education in Houston and Ozona for four years before being inducted into the U.S. Army in 1967. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired after 23 years of service. His last 10 years with the army were spent in the Washington, D.C., area, portions of which were at the Pentagon and serving under the Surgeon General of the Army. He lived in the Washington, D.C., area for 17 years where he enjoyed bowling with the DC Sports Organization, and gardening. He continued his love for gardening in Florida where his last four years were spent. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roush Edmond and his parents, Alvia and Naomi Broadway. Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Broadway of Arlington, Va. and Virginia and Alison Broadway of Belmont, Mass.; ex-wife, Ursula Broadway; four brothers; and three sisters.'
