THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 14, 2003: 'TALIHINA, Okla., Gary Lee Benson, 42, of Bagwell passed from this life on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, in Little Rock, Ark. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Old Talihina Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Cook officiating under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Bagwell Baptist Church in Bagwell. He was born Oct. 15, 1961, in Tulsa, Okla., to Ronald Lee and Roberta Marie Wells-Benson. He loved the outdoors, loved to hunt and camp and being a carpenter, he loved working with his hands and building things. He was proud of his children and was a very loving father. He loved the Talihina area. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Smith; maternal grandparents, Robert and Mozelle Wells; grandfather, Lloyd Smith; and a favorite uncle, Bill Carver. Survivors include his son, Jacob McKendle Benson; daughter, Ravon Alisha Benson; stepsons, Wesley Duane and Jackie Don Bryant, all of the home; his fianceƩ, Kathy Bryant of the home; parents, Ronald and Delores Benson of Tulsa and Roberta Carpenter of Tonkawa, Okla.; brother, Jim Benson of Tulsa; uncles and aunts, Ray Wells of Yanush, Robert and Betty of Shreveport, La., Loretta and Jay Allen of Talihina, Judy Baggs and Peet of Valliant, Okla., Nora Carver of Tonkawa and Ted and Lucille Perkins of Shawnee, Okla.; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.'
