THE PARIS NEWS, Sep. 12, 2003: "Mary B. Thornhill, 79, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at her home after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the funeral home. She was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Paris, a daughter of Sam and Myrtle Wadford Martin. She was married to Jesse B. Williams and after his death, she married Thad Thornhill who later died in 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God. Survivors include four children, a son, Jim Williams and wife, Mary, of Mesquite; three daughters, Pat Loven and husband, Jerry, of Paris, Shirley Bergt and husband, Richard, of Texarkana, and Connie Shoemate and husband, Printice, of Novice; three brothers, Virgil Martin of Longview, Roland Martin of Longview and James Martin of Ennis; a sister, Janette Bunker of Cabot, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, Chris Shoemate, Angie Cullum, Amy Abbott, Justin Thompson, Jennifer Lawler, Tommy Williams, Johnny Williams, Crystal Williams, Chris Lamberth, Mike Bergt and Michelle Shamley; 16 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Dr. Earl Thornhill and wife, Marie, of Austin; five step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Chris Shoemate, Chris Lamberth, T. Ray Williams, Tommy Williams, Johnny Williams and Justin Thompson."
