THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 09, 2003: ’Lorayne R. Black, 85, of Paris died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital South. Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Garden’s Cemetery under the direction of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. She was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Brookston, the daughter of James Milton and Willie B. Hewgley Rives. She married James M. Black on Oct. 17, 1936, in Loneoak. He preceded her in death June 14, 1987. She was a seamstress, homemaker, and a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church where she was in the Goodwill Sunday school class. She loved to cook, making the best boiled custard in the world. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Nell Mahon of Paris and Alice Ann Black of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sons, James M. ‘Jimmy’ Black of Mabank, John R. Black of Toccoa, Ga., William G. ‘Jerry’ Black of Paris, and Michael Joe Black of Powderly; grandchildren Kyle Black of Garland, Kim Day of Garland, Sean Black of Toccoa, Ga., Shelly Denton of Athens, Ga., Pam Davis of Baytown, Keith Black of Blossom, Kevin Black of Blossom, Robert Mahon of Sumner, Chad Ghiron of Santa Rosa, Kristen Brabant of Santa Rosa and Autumn Black of Paris; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Kyle Black, Keith Black, Kevin Black, Sean Black, Robert Mahon and Chad Ghiron.?
