| Notes THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 29, 2003: 'Tommie Joe Townsend, 76, of Paris died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in Rockwell Nursing Center. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home. She was born May 24, 1926, in Atlas, the daughter of Lee Roy and Thelma Ballard Jackson. She was employed with Southwestern Bell for 20 years before attending and graduating from East Texas State Teachers College. She worked for many years as a teacher for the Dallas Independent School District. Survivors include her sons, James Kelly Townsend of Rowlett and Rick Lynn Townsend of Forney; three sisters, Donna Sharake of Houston, Dorothy Bankhead of Paris and Fay Woods of Fort Worth; two brothers, Hubert Jackson of Fort Worth and Bill Jackson of Midland; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and friends.' |
