THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 16, 2003: 'Charles T. 'Terry' Barnett, 46, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital-South. Services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Elvis Whaley and the Rev. Erik Wilkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home. He was born April 14, 1956 in Hollindale, Miss. to Otis and Doris Crowder Barnett. He graduated from Senatobia, Miss. schools and attended Paris Junior College where he pursued a degree in accounting. He married Carolyn North Gifford on November 28, 1998 in Paris. He was a truck driver for American Freightways and a member of the Novice Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Otis. He is survived by wife, Carolyn; three children, Jon-Michael Barnett and Brad Gifford of the home, and Kenda Gifford-Fortner and husband, Earl of Paris; his mother, Doris of Senatobia, Miss.; four grandchildren, Kenyon Fortner, Kris Fortner, Austin Fortner and Spencer Smith; five brothers, David Barnett and wife, Pat of Humbolt, Tenn., Robert Barnett and wife, Lisa of Senatobia, Miss., William Barnett and wife, Tammy of Maryville, Mo., John Barnett and wife Pat of Redbanks, Miss., and Joe Barnett of Senatobia, Miss.; four sisters, Susie Tull and husband, Larry of Gallatin, Mo., Nancy Cleveland and husband, Joe of Senatobia, Miss., Pat Lewis of Maryville, Mo., and Margie Castle and husband, Steve of Independence, Miss; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers for the service will be Earl Fortner, Bobby Fortner, Mike Boswell, Larry Tull, Rodney Rogers and Mark Johnson.'
