THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 07, 2003: 'HUGO, Okla., Bessie Pearl Baker, 92, of Soper, Okla., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in Paris. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Soper Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Donnie Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in Soper Cemetery under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo, Okla. She was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Sawyer, Okla., to Jasper Newt and Annie Elizabeth Ainsworth Thompson. She married Edward Baker on May 20, 1937. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a son, Benny Jo Pipkins; a daughter, Wanda Chapman; a brother, Ralph Thompson; and a sister, Atlas Holly. Survivors include two sons, Edward Baker Jr. of Hugo, and Jess Burl Baker of Paris; a daughter, Alyde Harris of Apple Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.'
