THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 13, 2002: 'Connie Marie Tyler, 89, of Chicota, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at her home, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received her into their care. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Chicota Baptist Church with the Rev. Frankie Dawes officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home. She was born Sept. 16, 1913 in Hugo, Okla., the daughter of C. W. and Jewel Akins Sims. She married Herbert Stewart, who preceded her in death in 1939. She then married Clem Tyler, who preceded her in death in 1964. She worked as a cashier at the Arthur City Superette for 27 years and quilting was something she greatly enjoyed. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Wenona Hall; one brother, J. Q. Sims; and two sisters, Lula Foster and Maudie Arnold. Survivors include seven children, Kenneth Stewart and wife, Merle, of Chicota, Odessa Vanderburg and husband, Donald, of Chicota, Stanley Stewart and wife, Sarah, of Powderly, Earline Honsinger and husband, Don, of Powderly, Clem Tyler and wife, Dorothy, of Atlas, Jane Vanderburg and husband, Neal, of California and Gary Tyler and wife, Sabra, of Chicota; brothers and sisters, Archie Sims of Chicota, Charles Sims of Hugo, Okla., Verle Sims of Chicota, Barbara Arnold of Chicota, Bonnie Johnson of Rawhide and Donnie Fugett of Powderly; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Her grandsons have been named as casket bearers. The family will gather at the Chicota Baptist Church fellowship hall following the graveside services.'
