THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 22, 2002: 'Travis Templeton, 83, of Sumner died at his home Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home.'
THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 23, 2002: 'Travis Templeton, 88, of Sumner died at his home, Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home with Bro. Charles Scarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in West Post Oak Cemetery. He was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Paris, the son of W. W. and Nora Allison Templeton. He married his wife, Dollie, on Aug. 5, 1983. He had lived 33 years in Plainview and worked as a real estate broker for 28 years. He enjoyed working on small motors as a hobby. He loved blue grass music and made musical instruments including guitars, fiddles and mandolines. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Elk's Lodge and the Optimist Club in Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Templeton and Leslie Templeton; three sisters, Phonell Pirtle, Jewell Mears and Nadine Templeton. Survivors include his wife, Dollie Templeton; three stepchildren, Rick Norton and wife, Tera, of Arlington, Rena Vassey and husband, David, of Sumner and Tina Murphy and husband, Brian, of Mesquite; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, W. W. Templeton Jr.; three sisters, Pauline Fagala, Reba Beal and Helen Eugenia Smith of Baytown; and several nieces and nephews. If desired the family requests that donations be made to Dial-A-Prayer, Charles Scarbrough.'
