THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 21, 2002: 'Homer Milton 'Sonny' Templeton, 70, of Round Rock, formerly of Paris died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at the Round Rock Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Bryant Pool delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Sylvan Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was born Jan. 19, 1932 in Paris to Homer Milton and Minnie Ray Templeton Sr. He graduated from Devers High School and received his bachelors and masters degrees from East Texas State University. He married Nelda Joyce Blackburn June 15, 1961. She died Sept. 30, 1997. He coached high school football and baseball at Mount Vernon, Clarksville, Daingerfield and North Lamar ISD. He was a member of the Blossom Church of Christ. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, B. J. and Nancy Templeton of Round Rock; three grandchildren, Blake, Brooke and Bryan Templeton; and one sister, Jane Sullins and her husband, Bill, of Hillsboro. Serving as pallbearers will be John Henry Graves, Buddy Freeman, George Hines, Johnny Crawford, Bill Sullins and Bryant Pool. If desired, memorials may be made to North Lamar Education Foundation for a scholarship that will be set up in honor of Sonny.'
