| Notes THE PARIS NEWS, Sep. 17, 2002: 'Effie Thornton, 59, of Paris died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital South. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at New Hope Cemetery in Detroit with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating. Maxey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She was born Oct. 21, 1942, to the late Griffin Thornton Sr. and Willie Minter Thornton in Detroit. She was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Griffin Thornton, Jr. Survivors include her sister, Isadora Ephriam of Los Angeles, Calif.; cousins, Tommie Thomas, Joyce Ann Patterson, Given Smith and Thelma Fountain; two nieces, Lisa Pruitt and Iris Lynch; two nephews, Henry Ephriam and Clifford Ephriam; and a host of other relatives and friends.' |
