THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 29, 2002: 'KERRVILLE, Roberts Watts Bills, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Kerrville. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel. He was born June 12, 1915, to Emmett Eugene Bills and Emma Bell Duvall Bills in Paris. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II in Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands campaigns. He was a self-educated man who went on to become one of the only two people in Texas to receive his license as a Civil Engineer without a formal education. He was an engineer in the railroad industry for many years, traveling all over the country. He is survived by Pauline Kneblik of Kerrville; brothers, Warren Bills of Denton, Woodrow Bills of Paris; sister, Jeanette Pledger of Paris; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
