THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 01, 2002: 'Earl D. Baxter, 99, of Paris died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Deport Nursing Home. Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born May 18, 1903, in Ruston, La., a son of Asbury and Mary Ella Hollister Baxter. He married Evelyn Crawford Oct. 31, 1925. She preceded him in death Nov. 22, 1966. He was self-employed as a master carpenter and was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; three brothers, Steve, Curtis R. and Kelso 'Kelly' Baxter. Survivors include two sons, Curtis A. Baxter of Houston, Marshall Baxter of Bloomfield, N.M.; two daughters, Louise Roth Jordan of Woodville and Millie Ogg of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gene Baxter, Barry Baxter, Wayne Rhoten, Jason Roth, Michael Roth and Michael Hoskins.'
