THE PARIS NEWS, May 28, 2002: “Jack R. Butler, 75, of Paris died Monday, May 27, 2002. God reached down and picked the sweetest rose. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Shupp officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowbrook Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a true devoted and faithful friend to many, he lived life to the fullest, always putting others first and giving his all to those that he loved. Born in Delta County to Leonard O. and Russie Adams Butler on Aug. 30, 1926, he had been a dedicated employee for 31 years for Harrison, Walker and Harper Construction prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Sam Butler. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Lillie Mae Myers Butler; his son, Roger Dale and wife Barbara of Paris; four grandchildren, Brent Butler of Sweetwater, Brian Butler and wife Jennifer of Mineral Wells, Stephanie Bradley and David Bradley of Paris; four great-grandsons, Matthew, Mark and Luke Butler of Sweetwater, and Michael Smith of Mineral Wells; brothers, Harold and wife Wanda, R. L. Melvin and wife Ruth, Dan and wife Peggy all of Paris, and Ray and wife Nancy of Weatherford; sisters, Maeola Cluck, Ruby Faye Simmons and husband Clayton, Joyce Williams and husband David, Ethelene Cross and husband Ronne all of Paris, and Kathlene Miller and husband Phillip of Laurel Hill, N.C.; special God-daughter, Deborah Stanphill of Paris and a very special and devoted friend Loren Hackler of Paris; and many, many friends, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Pallbearers will be nephews and honorary pallbearers will be special and devoted past co-workers.”
