THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, Aug. 3, 2001: “GILMER - Ellna Anne McFatridge Bearden, 70, of Big Sandy died there Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001. Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer will conduct graveside services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Restland Cemetery in Roxton with the Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. She was born in Lamesa Sept. 12, 1930. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She had worked as a secretary for an insurance company. Surviving are a brother, Robert McFatridge of Tyler; a niece, Barbara Bruechner of Mount Pleasant; a nephew, Bob McFatridge of Waco; one aunt, Mildred Maroney of Garland; one uncle, Morris McFatridge of Roxton; three great-nieces, Alyssa, Lacey and Bryanna McFatridge, and her beloved Dachshund Precious.”
Tombstone is inscribed, “Married to Ed Bearden March 22, 1955, Separated for a time by his tragic death, October 25, 1971.” (Edwin Irvin Bearden was returning to the dock after a fishing trip on Lake Ray Hubbard, the boat capsized and he drowned. This record is included because his wife is buried in Restland Cemetery, Roxton, Lamar County, Texas.)
